MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

(THIS PAGE WILL BE UPDATED SOON.)

July 1, 2007

Dear fellow Rotarians,

It is a privilege to be the 2007-08 president of the Rotary Club of Conroe and serve under the leadership of Rotary International president, President Wilfrid J. Wilkinson.  For President Wilkinson, it was a natural choice to select “Rotary Shares” as the 2007/08 Rotary theme.  He has written, “I have always felt that the essence of Rotary is about sharing. Every day, in every club, Rotarians share with others in too many ways to count.”

When I first heard of President Wilkinson’s theme choice, I thought, “Perfect!” In my professional and personal life, I have always had the fundamental belief that one can serve others only if you “care” and “share”.  Wilkinson went on to say, “In Rotary, sharing means giving of yourself, freely, for the good of others,” which means Rotary shares because Rotary cares.  Therefore, for our 75th year I select the obvious for the theme of the Rotary Club of Conroe, Rotary Shares, because Rotary Cares.

For three quarters of a century, our club has shared because it cares by supporting literacy and health projects (Dental Care, “I Like Me” books, Mentoring, etc.) in the Conroe area.  We will continue to do so this year with goals in literacy, health and family of Rotary, and the overriding goal of being able to say at this time next year, “our club is better today than it was a year ago.”

Kenne G. Turner
President
Rotary Club of Conroe
