YOUTH EXCHANGE Meis 2007/08

Martin Meis

Martin Meis, Youth Exchange Student Sponsored by the

Rotary Club of Grevenbroich, Germany

Hello,

My name is Martin Meis and I will be the exchange student who is going to be hosted by your club starting this summer. In the following letter I will shortly describe my family and me.

My family and I live in a small village called Gohr in Germany, which has a population of 3200 people. Fields surround the village and right behind our house there is a forest. I have a brother named Tobias who is 19 years old and who also participated in a one-year exchange with Rotary. He stayed in Waverly, Ohio.

My father is working in a hospital as a department manager so his job is to organize the five departments of surgery and the emergency department. My mother is also having a medical job, in a practice. There she is working as a physiotherapist. Our dog Belka, who is a mix of a retriever and a collie, is now one year old and I love to go running with her.

Next to running I also play tennis with my brother, go skiing in the mountains, ride my bike and at last I love water sports like tubing or waterskiing. I have already been twice in the USA, last year over the summer vacation my brother and I visited his old host families in Waverly, Ohio and in the fall I took part in a school exchange to St. Paul in Minnesota. During these two weeks of exchange I also visited Washington and Chicago, which was really interesting because cities in America are whole lot different from the big cities in Germany.

I also added some pictures for you where you can see me in our last skiing vacation in Italy, with my family and with my dog.

I am really looking forward to this very special upcoming year and to meeting all of you soon!

Best regards,

Martin
